Bali Prayer – Poetry by Markus Hamence, Seminyak, Bali, 9 January 2026
May the island breathe peace into my bones,
as incense curls through the morning air and the sun lifts over temple stone.
May the rhythm of the ocean steady my thoughts,
each wave a reminder to soften, to listen, to let go.
Bless this moment with balance –
between earth and spirit, work and rest, giving and receiving.
May gratitude arrive like a daily offering,
placed gently at the doorway of my heart.
Let the jungle teach me patience,
the rice fields humility,
the mountains quiet strength,
and the people kindness that speaks without words.
May what I carry that no longer serves
be washed clean in salt water and light.
May what I am becoming be guided with clarity, courage, and compassion.
And may I walk forward – grounded, open, and awake –
in harmony with nature, spirit and self.
