Chain Break – Poetry by Markus Hamence, April 2026

I’ll write it clean, and I’ll write it simple and true –
like the sunlight from grey clouds breaking through.

They try to tell you wait your turn,
but the fire inside you nah go burn.
Steady rising, roots running so deep,
what you sow is what you keep.

No chains can hold a dreaming mind,
no shadow dim with what’s yours to find.
You feel it calling through your chest,
a quiet voice says “you are blessed”.

So don’t you bow to fear or doubt,
that’s not what living’s all about.
Stand up tall and proud in who you be,
your truth is your sovereign, your authority.

The wind don’t ask where it can blow,
the river don’t ask where to flow.
So why you waiting for a sign?
your life already is in it’s time.

Love is louder than the chaotic noise,
stronger than their metal weapons and plastic toys.
Build your world from your heart and soul,
that’s the only way to make you whole.

And when the days and nights feels cold and painfully long,
remember this – your eternal spirit is absolute strong.
The dawn is yours, it always knew,
there’s something fucking powerful inside of you.

So rise again, don’t lose your burning flame,
you came here wild, not to be tamed, or here to be the same.
And every step you choose to take,
is one more chain you choose to break.
